Looking at a 6.0 PSD
Found a SWEET looking 05 F250 6.0 PSD at a new Dodge Dealership. Had a nice price on it for 19k. 115k miles, Body was near perfect. Interior was perfect. Lariat.. huge upgrade from my old XL V10 truck.
Anyway, the salesman said it just went through a 140 ish point inspection .etc etc.
So, he starts it up. There was a hummmm while the glow plugs were doing their thing.
Starts it up and it starts smoking white smoke, and when I tried to rev it it wouldn't rev smooth, it would just clang clang clang... more white smoke.
Anyway, I told the salesmen that I may still be interested if they can get it fixed right. He told me something about they will fix it right or just wholesale it out as is depending on what the issue is with it.
Any ideas off hand what could cause that? Blown head gasket? Broke EGR cooler? Broke injectors?
Thanks!
Jerem
If you just have to have this particular truck (like they are really hard to find in your area or something like that), then the dealer's mechanics have a big job ahead of them. I doubt they hav e any idea how to fix a 6l ford, unless one of them owns one. That truck will likely go to auction.

140 point inspection? sure, wilburr... that means the lot guy had
it washed.
most likely, they will flog it at auction, after they try to sell it some
more, and can't.
want a used 6.0? take whatever price you are considering, and add
$5k to it.
is it still worth it?
If they say they'll fix it, say you want a detailed report of what was wrong and what was done to fix it. Plenty of dealers will slap a band-aid on it just to get it off their lot, especially if they're paying for the fix.
