Speedometer isn't working.
I've replaced the speedometer cable in my 1983 Ford F250 300CID 4 speed transmission, and it did not fix the problem. The cable is not spinning when I drive, so I think it is an issue with the speedometer driven gear. I've done some research and have discovered there are four different gears with different teeth counts. Does anybody know what the correct speedometer driven gear tooth count is? Any help would be appreciated. My fuel gauges aren't working in either tank too. Help with that would be great. Thanks.

Go ahead and pull the cable off the tranny, take the keeper bolt out, and pull the little housing out of the tranny that the speedo cable attached to. You will see the plastic gear on the end. You can then determine if it's stripped or not, and the color. The color is what you need to know, or if there any teeth left, you can count the teeth.
