i wuss wondering if anyone new whether or not a f100 360 manual 4x4 needed the clutch engaged to start beacause mine is a manual and doesnt need the clutch to start i recent purchased this truck and it has starter issues it just grinds i hAVE TO POP START IT. the guy said hed recently put a new flywheel in it and that he thought an starter for an automatic wuss put in and this wuss the problem do they even offer a diffrent starter for the 360fe for manual or automatic and does that transmission take a flywheel or ringear sorry for sounding ignorant and not knowing its the first truck i bought and dont have too much mechanical knowledge thanks for any help

I think the FE uses the same starter for standard and auto , the small block is different. No , i don't believe you have to push down on the clutch to start it. You don't say what year it is .
FE 3 mounting hole A/T & M/T starter same: 1963/71 Passenger Cars & 1965/76 F100/350 / 1958/62 FE's use a different 3 hole starter with a Bendix inertia starter drive.
FE 184T flywheel ring gear (replaceable by itself) same: 1965/71 Passenger Cars & 1965/76 F100/350 / 1958/64 FE's have a 152T flywheel ring gear.
No such thing as a clutch pedal safety switch until 1984. FE engines cancelled at the end of the 1976 model run.
