E40D Transmission Issues
93 E350 7.3L bucket truck (E40D). I can not seem to get this transmission to run right in the truck no matter what I do. It just never shifts right. It doesn't want to downshifts when it should and always has trouble going up hill. Here is what I have replaced and have done, and its a long list. I have been slowly rebuilding the whole truck since they don't make a diesel bucket e350 VAN anymore. They are all gas due to something with the weight so I am told..... I need to get this right.
New Rear twice (It previously broke teeth off due to high pressure in reverse)
new drive shaft
new tps 3 times
New gear selector switch (park, neutral etc)
new connectors for transmission
new glow plugs
new glow plug relay
new transmission
new torque converter
new Rpm sensor
new coolant sensor
high idle switch
coolant switch
water pump
new valve cover gaskets
new radiator
all new suspension
all new brakes including lines, booster and vacuum pump
Oil Pressure sensor ( I will be changing that shortly)
Put in Electronic Fuel pump and removed manual
This use to do the same thing even with the old transmission. I barely make it up a large hill somethimes.
What else can I possible do to make this better? I did have to actually adjust the gear selector switch on the trans and it seemed to have helped as when I installed the new one it didn't want to shift at all. Is there a procedure on adjustment? I know it says adjust in neutral and align the line, but it seemed real sensitive. I have also made sure each time my TPS sensor is 1.2 to 4.5. Is there something that needs to be reprogrammed or a programmer I can buy?
Anyone have any idea's to add while I am in there?
have you read how to adjust it correctly yet? if not,see here:

also post the codes from your scanner when you get them.remembering to hold WOT during the scan for the diesels.don't part with the scanner.you can buy them brand new "OBD1" for ford cars and trucks for 20-30$ now.it will be worth more to you to keep a used one than selling it for 5 or 10 bucks, cus rest assured that light will blink again in the future and you'd wish you kept it lol.

Yes I have read that and adjusted/checked it many times. I even bought a new sensor several times thinking maybe it was a bad batch. It is 1.2v and 4.5v. The scanner I purchased is not just an obd1 scanner. It is the ford factory transmittion scanner. It hookes directly up between the trans and ECM. You can shift it and do other things to see if there is an issue between sensors or ecm etc. I do also need to get an OBD1 scanner as I only have a real expensive 2 model. The ford scanner was pretty cheap since its old as dirt now. I feel like the MLPS sensor may still be off slightly. I couldn't belive on how the first run when I adjusted it how it made a huge difference.
