Mark,
I suspect that someone put a '97 or later E4OD/4R100 into a 460 case. If that's the case, then the '97 Digital range Sensor should work. I would hate to change my harness & connector and have the same problem.
Is there a way to determine if the internals are a later version by removing the oil pan?
Dan, I asked Donnie Medlin to check on that E4OD I saw on what they call the strip line where they disassemble vehicles. I don't know if it is a core or what, but it is a 460 2wd case and is complete.
I no longer have any forward gears in Drive. I can get the truck going in 2nd, then shift into drive. It will go into 3rd, then just slip.
I jacked the truck up and disconnected the shift linkage. Then I manually put the truck into drive. I lowered the truck and started the motor. I had no forward gear.
I remeasured the voltage on S1 at the transmission and read about 0.86 Volts.
