Tension Limiter Tension?
Got a ‘91 Ford E-350 truck. The foot-pedal emergency brake has a cable going to the rear axle where the adjusting screw pulls on the “equalizer bar” which pulls on the cables going to each drum. Ahead of the adjusting screw is what the shop manual calls a “tension limiter”, which I wrecked without knowing what it was. It is a U-shaped “cinch strap hook” with a bar that slides permanently down into the hook, if given enough force. You are supposed to put the e-brake pedal to the floor and rely on the limiter to set the proper tension. The manual says that when it slips there should be at least 350 lbs tension in the cables to each drum brake.
Broncos and F-150's have these too. Question is, do other years and models have the same 700 lb slip rating as the ‘91?
