Parking brake adjustment

'99 F-350 4X4 w/V 10. All the truck I'll ever need. But my Haynes service manual does not show you how to adjust the parking brake. I can push it almost to the floor and still get a little roll out of it. HELP!

I had the same problem before. I always use my parking brake, and eventually
it would go to the floor and almost no park brake. pulling the release would not
bring it all the way back up. had to lift it with my foot.
2 problems:
1 - the driver side rear cable section had frozen with rust.
2- the spring inside the drum that pulls the brake pads away had broken.
there is no adjustment for the cable, it is attached to the pedal as one cable, then, a
few feet short of the rear axle it is has a bracket with the left and right rear cables attached.
so, either the cables are stretched, frozen, broken.
or, your rear brakes need some work.
my guess.

I love Pink Floyd! David Gilmore!!!
Anyhoo . . . When I recently had the tires rotated, I inspected the brakes and the rear have plenty of pad. Isn't there some way to adjust that "bracket" that holds the two cables? I seem to remember seeing two nuts or something.

I saw this on a post a while back. I've never had to try it but here goes. I believe you pull out on the release handle and while holding it out, pump the emergency brake several times. Then let handle go and test. Maybe it works!

Nope, no adjustment.
there is a long spring around the end of the cable inside the drum.
this is all the take-up on the cable, and the force that causes the parking brake
pedal to come back up when you release it.
there is a star adjuster inside the drum, it gets rotated when you stop in reverse.
this does not affect the park brake cable adjustment though.
