Hey guys I have my gauges installed, but I have been waiting for weeks for my buddy to get my pillar painted. I was wondering if anybody knew how to mount a triple pillar pod by Autometer. I dont know how to attach it. I dont want to put screws where they are seen if ya know what I mean.
I did the install on my dual-pod pillar from Autometer, and it was pretty straight forward. You basically drill the holes for the little plastic "screws" , and go to town. What I did , was place the screws where the weatherstripping would somewhat hide them, doesnt look to bad.
Another idea is to paint the plastic screws the same color as your pillar , so you wouldn't see them as much as if they were factory black....
I have used a glue gun in the past with great sucess in mounting those. you have to take yours out of the vehicle and glue it all together but it looks seamless when finished. Hope this helps.
Be cautious about using hot glue. I did this and here in Northern California the summer heat can get to 110 degrees. That makes the inside cab temps way hot. This was partly my fault because I used more glue than I should, but one very hot day it started to run, and it was a pain to clean up. I elected to take the glue off, drilled the holes and use the black push in tabs instead. I like Joeboost's idea of painting them the same color as the pillar. May just pull them back out and do that.
