Cowl trash and trim removal
I was wondering if there is anyway to get the trash out of the cowl on my 79. It sat for a while under some pine trees before I rescued it.
I am also curious about removing the aluminum trim pieces without destroying them.....is there a tool just right for this job?

how do you get the trim off ?
Edit from Other post :
How would a guy go about taking off his trim that starts at the front parking light anvd gos all the way back? the stuff i'm talking about is a chrome piece with just black rubber or plastic going through it, don't know how to explain it, and i'v looked in magazines and trying to buy new, i can't decide wether its stleside molding or race track,. can you help me?
i have a 1979 f-250 4x4 ranger.

Do you mean the chrome with rubber trim inset ,that runs down the sides?
There are acorn nuts at the each end of each piece of chrome.
The back nut is accessed behind the tail-light.
I can take usually them off with my fingertips.
If they don't work, I use a putty knife and a thin cloth to avoid scratching the paint.

I thought you were trying to take it OFF .
Now you mention buying it.
Which one is it ?
Edit: I realized you probably want to replace the stuff you have.
Doh!
The Race track chrome is for two-tone painted trucks. The chrome seperates the colours.
The upper chrome for these is what I was describing, taking off.
I sent you an E-mail.

i am wondering about both. for my restoration project my 79
f-250 has the original trim for the 2 tone paint , so thats the top trim and the bottom. i tore the bottom off since am repainting the color all blue. so i won't be needing it. and i was wondering , if i could just buy some more of the race track molding for my new bed wich doesn't have any trim at all. or should i buy all new stylside molding because the stylsides were for one color. i'm kinda confused about the difference still between styleside race track and styleside molding help please
