Rear End Decode Please
Sorry rear end does not have a metal tag.
This is on my '65 F100 1/2 ton that had the rear swapped by one of the POs.
Here are the #s I could find on the housings
On smaller part on the housing in the pinion area that has the 4 bolts:
C2AW-4668
Also 4024 and 60 on another part of that housing
On the larger part of the 3rd member:
DIF 19
and 4028 on the part that looks like a number plate with the fake cast in screws.
Really hoping to determine spline count without pulling axles.
Thanks

C2AW is a 9" rear axle, but 4668 is a casting number that cannot be decoded to a part number, so I have no idea what the part is...its marked on.
The other numbers are gibberish, cannot be decoded to anything.

Thanks ND.

Are there other numbers that I should be able to find on the rear end? If so where are they located?
Any way to tell how many splines without the metal tag(if that even tells that) or without pulling an axle?

No ID tag, you're oughtta luck.

Parts catalog pic: Ford and Spicer/Dana ID tags. When WDL-W1 & C5TA-C are decoded, axle shaft spline count is known.
All 1957/67 F100's 9's have 28 splines. Some 1968/72 F100 9's have 28 splines, some have a H/D 9" with a 9 3/8" ring gear, 31 splines & Traction-Lok.

So from what it looks like from the manual page, the ID tag is the only way to determine the year too?

The axle code may decode to a specific year/model, but the parts will be the same for multiple years.
Many of the internal parts are the same: 1957/86. I sold so much of this jazz over 35 years, I can reel off most of the part numbers from memory.
