Replacement Engine Question

I have a 1992 F250 w/ a 460 gas engine. I am thinking of replacing it with a 351/390 fuel injected or possibly a small diesel. I do not tow anything or haul much do to the excessive amount of fuel it currently uses. I'd like to change that.

where would I begin to look if I planned to do the build and replacement myself?

If I had a truck like yours, I'd consider a 94-97 5.8 or a PSD conversion. Swapping to a 351W would probably be the most straight forward, cheapest, and easiest.
