Give em a break guys. They were great in the beginning with Master of Puppets, toned it down for the radio and the GenX crowd, and now they are trying something else for the new kids who are coming of age. Don't beat em up just yet. When the cd's don't sell, they'll try some old school stuff again.
Look at some of the long time players who still rock after 30 years in the business...

I've decided that ''frantic'' is an all right song.

I did one thing right. I bought the new Anthrax at the same time. Good to hear Scotty and Charlie aren't ready to hang it up. Metallica turned into trendy dollar chasers. Cliff is still rolling.

Metallica is one of the better bands that have been out there for a long time. Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets were their best by far. Justice and Black were ok considering the band had commercialized themselves. Havent heard their new stuff so I wont comment on it. I remember many times while I was in the Army in Germany, drinking beer and listening to Mettalica. Those were the days!!

I just watched the St Anger special on MTV. I used to like the band, but now they have nailed themselves into a coffin. It was terrible, out of harmony, hesitant, and not well played. I wonder what happened - they did not present themselves as they used to, and the experience left me determined to find another hard rock band to follow. This is a sad day for me - like most guys, if I like a band, I will buy every one of their albums, but the last two Metalica have convinced me they are no longer worth my loyalty. However, Ossie still rocks! I have been listening happily to that guy for longer than I care to admit.

Being a hardcore, hardcore Metallica fan. I was at first dissapointed with the new album, but I listend to it more and more and I really love it... well except for Frantic and St. Anger, I don't much care for them. Solos are missing, but overall I really like the new album. I don't really care what anyone else says, my opinion matters to me only and thats the bottom line.

Now I have to wait for my second favorite band (Well, quite possibly I love them more than Metallica) to get back together and crank out some new stuff - MEGADETH!!

Maybe Metallica needs to get rid of Bob Rock and get Flemming Rassmussen producing again. The the biggest problem I have is the production and the way it sounds.

I've listened to some of the songs off this cd, and i do have to admit, that some sound better than others. James has definetly lost his ability to really put out foreceful lyrics without his voice going shrill or cracking. The CD is decent at best, but its nothing like the others that made metallica what it is.
