I don't know how anyone could not respect Metallica. How can you say that they stink when they've been around for 20 years? Sure they arn't perfect, but who is? I don't think many other bands have accomplished what they have. Now even I don't like all their stuff, but I like a lot of it. I think a lot of people feel that way. I didn't like their thing against napster, it was stupid, but it doesn't cause me to hate them. It didn't affect me at all I can still download their stuff. You can't judge someone like that without being in their shoes. So basically you can't say anything unless you've been in a band for 20 years and find people stealing your music for free.
I've only heard the first single, but IMHO IT SUCKS . It doesn't even sound like Metallica. Hopefully there's at least a couple songs on the album to salvage it, but I won't be buying it.
Either Metallica has completely sold out (they've been on the way since the black album) or they're old and they've lost it.

I can say whatever I want. I don't have to be in the shoes of those jerks to know what I know. Know why? Because I'm the CONSUMER. I don't choose to consume their products and my opinion is all that matters. My opinion and every other consumers opinion. I don't like their music, I don't buy it, and they don't get paid. End of story. They've been burning their bridges with the public for years. They're old and out of date and need to go away.
BTW, you're a hypocrite. You said "So basically you can't say anything unless you've been in a band for 20 years and find people stealing your music for free." and you also say "It didn't affect me at all I can still download their stuff." You call it "stealing your music for free" yet you still do it? Shame shame.....
I'm only hoping to get the new Led Zeppelin album for fathers-day!! the album soared to the number 1 postion the first week it was released!! best drummer of all time are you kidding me?? John Bonham of course!!!!
Ever since they sued napster I only burn Metallica cds. Downloaded a little it isn't bad (isn't great either)
I buy Marilyn Manson, Eminem, 50 cent, Hank Williams Jr. and anyone else that I think deserves support. All the *******s can go **** themselves because I dont help them.
Okay, I read the first 5 or so posts and now need to say this, I think that metallica is STUCK in a long term contract (sold themselves short in the 80s to make big bucks) and are now finding that 25 years later they can't write songs anymore, or sing and play like they used to. They are just way too old. The last good album was S & M, saw a bunch of it on MTV and VH1 loved it to death. I haven;t heard much from the new album but the one b4 S & m or right after can't remember sucked too.
Originally posted by BuiltToughF250 anyone else got that White Stripes "seven nation army" song stuck in their head? everyone know is eating that song up for being so simple and corny, the big radio station in the Twin Cities ( 93x ) is getting requests for it constantly. its a typeof musicid usually throw out the window, but dang its catchy
Yep, you're right about the White Stripes. They really grow on you.
The song "st. anger" is pretty lousy (haven;'t heard the rest of the album), but I still like Metallica on thw whole. Yeah, they screwed up with napster. Technically they're right, but it's like stealing a penny from Bill Gates, who cares?
As far as selling out, think of it like this. If someone said they'd give you a million dollars if you go on tv and say you like coke, would you do it? If someone said they'd give you a million dollars if you promise them you'll make another cd for them, would you care whether that cd is good, or simply if you get the money? Let me put it this way, if most of us were offered the money, selling out wouldn't seem so bad. If I became a famous guitar player, I would sell out bigtime. I would have my own line of guitar staps and insence, I'd wear Nike shoes, whatever. People will do alot of things for money, and I don't think most of us would turn down a life's work's worth of money because it would be "selling out". I'd endorse crystal Pepsi even.
I haven't been impressed with what I've heard on the radio, so I don't plan on going out and buying it. I've heard a couple of them, but st. anger is the only one I can really remember. It sounds like a bunch of noise to me. I don't mind it loud if things are playing together, but it sounds like the guys our out of beat. I'm not a big metallica fan though, I do like Black and the Load and ReLoad CD's. I was hoping the new song they released early was intentionally bad for the people to download off the net, but apparently that's not the case
Yeah I never really liked Metallica, somebady gave me the CD, said they couldn't listen to it anymore. I was surprised, it came out today. But nonetheless it really sucks, pull!!!!! bang!!!! heheheheheheheeheh
Its honestly one of the worst so called metal albums I have ever heard. I have heard some new Anthrax and it just blows it away. Along with the sound not being good on St. Anger none of the songs are even that good. I know James spent some time in rehab, but did he stop drinking and start smoking crack?
Oh yeah, what was Kirks part on the album? I don't remeber hearing one solo. I listened to it once and that was enough. The Corporation 187 cd is going back in. Pure metal at its finest.
