my 94 f-350 (7.3 turbo) starts great when engines cold or slight warm. however when warm enough that the glow plugs dont come online when starting, engine wont start. i have to wait for about a hour for engine to cool down enough for the wait to start light to come on when i turn the key on ,then it will start. should the wait lite always come on when the key is first turned on??? any thoughts anybody ?? taz01.
hey chevy eater, the truck has 151,000 miles on it. it runs great after getting it started. should the wait lite not come on at all when engines hot? taz01.
Your '94 has the new style of GP system. I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) the new system does cycle briefly on warm start, but I'm not sure. Been quite a few years since I had a working one. But even if it does or doesn't, if the engine is hot it should not need the glowplugs to start.
At that mileage you might just be due for a replacement IP. Some here like to replace them @ 100K, but they can go past that, but it's a crapshoot just how far. The only one I've had to replace was just under 200K when it died.
mine does, check the connections, and grounds on the controller, it may be failing, however poor cool water on the ip if it starts, Ip may be going bad.
