one problem fixed....another rises...need major help
Hey all Idk if you saw my last thread about the squealing noise. But the.is again because that issue is gone. My newest issue is whenever the engine is cold it starts hard and the idle goes up and down...sort of like chugging or a something similar. Maybe sounds like a looped idle. After a while of idleing like that it will die. It will start back up but after cranking for a while. This happened 3 times this morning before it was warm enough to run on its own. When the engine temp is normal it will run great like nothing is wrong. It still starts a bit hard but runs great....I can't figure out what could be wrong and everyone i talked to don't know either....anyone have any ideas on what it could be? I just put new o rings and rebuilt the pressure regulator and that fixed the squeal.
That's what my truck sounded like when I was down 6 GPs but it was cold out. Is this a new issue since you worked on it? When you say "I just put new o-rings" it may help to mention what o-rings you replaced.

My first thought is oil.
Is it full?
What it is?
How old is it?
Sounds like you're getting the Romps. I'm surprised by the timing... usually it's more of a cold-weather issue. It was for me.
yes that is exactly what it was doing. and after reading your replies...especially the one about the oil....I checked it and as much as I am ashamed to say it...the oil was below the add mark near the end of the stick.....I topped off the oil at work and it was 8 qts low I feel like such a moron....after I put it in problem solved....im changing my oil tomm. I have to say though if it wasn't for you guys and gals I don't know how I would survive with my truck. Thanks.
Before you change the oil though, consider changing the TYPE of oil. Myself and many of us have changed over to Rotella T6 full synthetic oil.
Easier cold starts and many have had the slight "romps" even with enough oil till they switched to T6. Romps went away.
