Hi i am quite fed up. I have a few question that i am finding hard to get answers to as i am in the UK.I own i ford f350 1957 i brought a complete 1989 Ford e150 econoline with OD gearbox the engine and box out of this will go into the 1957.I am not sure what engine i have is it the 302 how do i find out.I have managed to snap a pin on the ECU trying to find one over her is not good. The part number is A9J E9TF-12A650-AS2A so is there a stand alone ecu i can buy.The gearbox is OD which on the econoline is colume shift.I want to make it floor shift is there a kit that i can buy to do this.I am feeling like giving up on it.I will want to remove the air con pump smog pump and any think else i could do with out.I think the gearbox is the c6 but again not sure the bell housing is all in one built as part as the gear box. Please send help advice
It's a 302 with 11/16 head bolts. The transmission more than likely is an AOD, you'll need an aftermarket floorshifter and retain the Throttle Valve cable (from the throttle to the transmission) to control how it shifts. AOD has an oil pan that has "METRIC" stamped into the bottom of the pan.
Shifter ? Just about all the shifter vendors sell units that'll work with an AOD. I assume you're talking about the T/V cable ? It's motion is used to provide input to the valve body (I'm no expert here, but I'm close) to regulate the pressures of the circuits. If you don't get it right(the adjustment), the transmission will not last long.
Both Lokar and B&M make shifters for it with long handles for a truck/van application. The numbers on that tag are mostly info that's not relevant to what you're doing. Basically the engineering numbers.
Are they both as good or is one better than the other. Is there anythink else i would need.Or is it just the shifter kit.Do they work the O/D gear as well Thanks
