So yeah.. ever since I dropped my truck I've had lousy tire wear. Like a tire every 5K miles or so. Luckily I don't do that in a year. But I'm tired of it.
Went to an alignment shop, and sort of struck out. I basically got some #s and some "yeah we don't know what to do". Oh well. They did say if I came up with any forum ideas, they'd help me out. My thinking was just set the toe to spec (which is??) but the guy said it would drive like crap.
Here's what I have for #'s.
As it is now. Truck *drives* straight. Right tire wears BAD on the outside edge, Left tire, even but it's wearing on the outer side of each row of tread a bit more than the inner.
I'd find a new alignment shop if "they don't know what to do". You could get your toe set better than that with a tape measure. Beams don't need bent, camber looks good. just set the toe near zero to 1/16th in and you will see much better tire wear.
Well, yeah, I'm not going back there. The fact it was 'lowered' threw them off. That and the fact they don't see many twin beam trucks anymore. At least we got to have a pow-wow with the truck on the stand.
The passenger tire *does* 'tip out' on top a teeny tiny bit, but I figured, like you, if the toe was closer to spec, the wear would be better. Looking at that, the right wheel is "in" too much, so I'll bring the front to the outside a bit more?
Toe is why it's eating tires. Take it to someone who knows what the Fu(* they are doing. Toe is always set first and last. Setting the toe to proper spec will change the camber though you should still be fine.
