Engine oil condition

Well for once I get to create a post that isn't screaming for help cause my truck won't run right.
All is good, truck runs great and it is pushing 293k on the clock. I am just getting **** now

Ever since I have had my truck, when I change the oil, after refilling, running for a couple of minutes then re-checking the level again, it is black. Now I know that there is residual oil left behind during a change. And in the HPOP as well. But what would it take to get rid of the residual old oil?
I have in the past siphoned out the HPOP when replacing a failed o-ring so that wouldn't be an issue. But what about the rest of the motor?
Is there am inexpensive way to really flush the motor so that when an oil change is done, you really have fresh oil? Not contaminated by old oil and black within seconds of changing it? Or do I just suck it up and live with it? It would be nice to see the caramel colored oil after a change.

Thanks all!

I plan to install the oil bypass filter and no more black. That's it.

The only ways I can imagine getting all the oil out of the engine would also introduce air to the injectors. That would make it rough to start, run like crap, and be hard on the injectors every time you change your oil.

I have always done just your standard oil change (filter & drain pan & replace) & I have never seen my oil instantly change black again within just a few miles. Usually has a nice clean color for at least a few hundred miles. What brand & weight of oil r u using?

My oil usually stays looking decent for a bit too. I wonder if it is odd that yours is instantly dark??

That is kind of what I was thinking. It has done this since I bought the truck a few years back with 80K on the odometer. For awhile there I was thinking that maybe that is just the way it is... Something about diesels. But after changing the oil in my wife's car as well, I figured I would ask.

Hoping it isn't something that is causing damage or issues but if it did, it should of shown up by now since I have put 210 K on the truck since I bought it.... Wouldn't it?

Hmmm I sent my oil analysis some time ago and have been going about 6 - 7 K between changes. Per the report, it is fine doing this. Maybe I just need to change more often.

if i rememberer right there is ~1 gal of oil that dose not come out in a change. over 1 qrt in each head 1.5 qrt in the HPOP and more trapped in the block.
the only way to get it put is to take the motor apart.

1 gallon? That would mean an overfill of 1 gallon every change. The capacity is 15qts. That's what I put in every time.

when i rebuild the engine ti took all most 19qts to fill it the full mark of the dip stick. you have 15 in the pan and 4 more in the hpop line tank heads injectors front cover turbo oil cooler. it takes a lot of oil to keep the engine running.

3k intervals is probably way too soon for T6 but I like changing mine every 3k. I have a friend with a 97 OBS and after about 500 miles the oil is black. He bought it new in 97 with 8 miles on it, now it's just under 200,000. I was told by an old timer " it's a diesel, it's what they do!"
