I am located in Seattle and never needed the AC system but for maybe two days out of the year, so when I was working over the truck to clean the engine compartment and replace the heater core, I chucked all of the AC components that were not working to the trash years ago. I am now going to be moving to Oklahoma and want to put an aftermarket AC system into my 1975.
I have looked through the historical here on the web site and found some threads for aftermarket AC systems such as, Bought4less, and nostalgic air. My questions are as follows:
1. Are there any other companies that make a quality system for a pre existing AC system than what I have listed above?
2. With Bought4less and nostalgic air users, are you satisfied with your systems and is it worth the purchase or should I stay away from them?
Did yours have the factory deluxe a/c? If so, I know where one is in a junk yard with all the a/c duct work, under-hood box, and control head. The compressor and some of the other parts are gone, but those would probably need replaced or at least flushed.
I am not sure which AC system this used to have nor do I know how to tell the difference. I still have the box that held the evaporator core but removed it, the Condenser, Compressor, hoses, dehydrator, and all of the associate little parts. I have everything behind the dash still there as I saw no reason to pull them out.
It would be costly buying pieces individually new and I foresee problems acquiring used. I prefer going the route of complete kit for the ease to put into the truck with an AC system, Thank You for the offer.
