ac not working
recently bought this 84 f150 xlt.the heater wokrs awesome and seeing as the weather w2as cold at time of purchase,i didnt care whether ac worked,but now spring is coming on,so thought i'd see if ac wokrs,well,it doesnt,no suprise there. when i turn ac on it doesnt blow cold,just blows like vent air,or fan air,whatever you call it. do you think i need compressor or maybe just freon or what? if i need compressor,would it be okay to get used one ro should i buy new one,what's the costs of a new one you think?

I would get on the web and learn all you can about A/C systems. They are not "remove and replace" type systems. You need gauges for troubleshooting and filling of the system, and some of the components are high dollar. It's going to need converted over to r134a also, so read up on that too.
It's a whole different field, and I am not saying you can't do it, but you can't just jump in without a lot of knowledge of how it works.

well if it's an old system & hasn't been converted like mine go to pep-boys they have a new product they can charge the system with. i'm having mine recharged after i have my engine rebuilt. which will be late april.
