P1639 Question
My questions if I don't have this corrected will it cause problems with driving the truck. Drove about 90 miles with it and it already runs better then it has the past year. Cause the dealership doesn't want to admit they may have not programed that in. They don't want to fix there mistake. I may have to pay another $125 to have it fixed at another dealership of course. If will it will drive fine with out having the VIN number programed into it I may wait to have it fixed and not spend the money.
So should I have it corrected now or wait?
Why not is the question.
When you sell the truck or trade it that question may come up.
Take it back and insist the job be done correctly.
The dealer tech has to down load from a Ford data center the build the truck left the factory with to be fully correct.
How that is obtained is by telling the site the VIN.
All vehichle VINs are in the data base to ID the correct download files.
It usually takes about 30 minutes for the whole job.
If you have PATS, 2 keys are requires along with it because the PATS ID changes with it.
The ID block contains such things as the tire size, gear ratio, engine etc.
Print this out and take it with you.
Keep going up the chain until you get it done correctly.
There is no reason not to do it right.
The program is now old and some dealers equipment has not been maintained and could have issues with a down load but that is not your problem but they are making it your problem by trying to get out of it.
Good luck.
