The dealership called me last Friday and said my truck was assigned a VIN number and that the truck went from priority 10 to priority 1? I don't know if that is just BS trying to make me feel good or what. He did say I would get my truck a month earlier that what they told me....so we'll see.
I asked about closing on my truck. He said he thought I had to wait until the truck comes in. It was my understanding once the truck is given a VIN i can close when ever I want. There is no real good factory incentives right now, so i don't really care, but if 0% comes up, i would like to take advantage of it, can I do that even though my truck may not be delivered yet? Anyone know what Ford has planned in the next month to month and half?
I wouldn't be in a hurry to close on your truck. I had one that was missing an option that I ordered. Also, you'll want to make sure that it arrives at your dealer in good condition.
I agree. When I ordered my '05, I waited until it came in to close on it. I was there when they took it off the carrier and watched the driver when he brought it off. Nothing wrong with the truck at all. It just needed cleaning up. I looked at the option sheet I had filled out and compared it to the window sticker. Lo and behold, I had asked them to order the captain's chairs and it had the split bench seat in it. I didn't want them to try to part and piece things together so the dealer offered me a $500.00 credit for parts / service and knocked another $500 off the price. I was satisfied and now prefer the bench due to the number of people I have with me from time to time.
Point is, check it over with a fine tooth comb before you sign anything.

The sales person was just trying to make you feel good. Priority drops off once a vehicle is issued a VIN. so I guess you could technically say that all orders become a 1 at this point. Priority is only relevant till the point that the vehicle is selected for scheduling and really is not that important at all unless there is mass demand for a particular vehicle. I assume that your dealer told you your scheduled build week as well?

You technically do not have to wait for the truck to come in for you to close on it, but as already pointed out by powerstroke72 and whjco it is not all that good of a idea unless you are going to lose out on some killer incentives. The dealer would have to wait for the truck to be invoiced by Ford though and if the truck was just issued a VIN this past week, it has not been invoiced yet...
Thanks. I am going to wait until it comes in unless Ford has 0% financing. Since it is the Harley truck, Ford never has very good incentives on their "higher" end vehicles. So I am crossing my fingers they will have 0% or at least special financing. If not no biggie, but it would be a nice bonus.
