I just found out that the vin# I was given by my dealer, was actually for someone else's truck. After talking to the inventory manager today I found out that my truck isn't even on the schedule yet. However, each time I called, I was assured by my salesman that he was checking the status for me and that the truck was on schedule.
It seems to me that's hardly possible. I can understand an initial mix up, but how could he keep checking and not realize the mistake. Sounds to me like he was just stringing me along, without checking at all. Could this have been an honest mistake?
artj when I read you post I was shocked. I really doubt I could work with my dealer if they pulled that type of BS. If I did I'd be dealing with somebody at the top from now on, and asking for proof - not the salesmans word.
I'd love to yank the business from him, but if I do I'll just have to start all over again somewhere else. The only good thing may be that since I made a big stink with the inventory manager he claims he's going to make sure I get on the production schedule this week and have a delivery within four weeks. May be more of the same bull, but how do I know it's going to be any better with another dealer?
How about this: tell me what you want and I'll order it. If mine comes in before the other dealer's, then you've got yourself a truck. If the original dealer's truck comes in first, take delivery of that one and I'll put the one I ordered for you into our inventory. No deposit, no hassles, no questions asked. And yes, you'd have to come to Rochester to pick it up.
