Conversion Help/Recomendations
I know they are around, jut not around here and Im not sure why. I thought again about trading but business is just to volatile to get rid of it and of course the dealer says its only worth 15k.
What really frosts my hiney about that is they have 05's with more miles in worse shape selling for 28k and people are paying it. I had mine on CL and all I got was tire kickers and I didn't think my price of 23k was unreasonable for whats been done.
Oh well the hunt for parts will continue, for now its put away for winter.

I saw Speaker's thread and was excited to see him working on the conversion as he was set on the arrowcraft kit. But he too the easy way out and bought a newer truck. For me that's not an option, I cant really afford a new Lariat, and I really don't want to go down to an XLT or XL just to say I have a new truck.
So here are my thoughts:
Route 1: Get the arrow craft kit, this is a budget friendly kit, comes with the wheels, adapters, so all I would need is tires and fenders. What concerns me about this route is how the weight is carried on the rear now that they use adapters to achieve the dually conversion out back. My 5er is 13.5k ready to camp, and I, worried there weight will be on the wheel studs, not the hub, unfortunately I cant get a straight answer from arrowcraft.
Route 2: Find a rear end out of an 05-07 truck, buy new wheels, tires (which I would have to do with the arrowcraft kit), and buy the adapters for the front. This would cost roughly twice what the arrow craft set up would, but its a complete rear end.
I have a line on a rear end out of an 06 with 50k on it, it has the correct gear ratio as well, and its 1400.00, so can anyone help me with part numbers for the front dually adapters from FORD, my dealer wont help me because I don't have a vin number.
So for the fenders, because that to me is the real hurdle, I was thinking of going with the 11-up style, that way there I don't have the mess with the fuel fill or anything like that. Only thing I am curious of is the body line in the same spot on the newer trucks as they are on the 99-10 trucks. Also does anyone have the part numbers or a source where I can get a set of OE dually fenders for 11-up trucks.
Im really hoping to get this done this winter.
Thanks,

Short bed duallies were made in the factory, there has to be a part number in the collision catalog for a fender with the fuel door in it. Maybe MDSuperDuty will let you borrow his VIN to look it up.

Like I said before, I would only do this with an OE axle. It's the best way to get the gains your looking for.

I do hope MDSUPERDUTY sees this thread and he PM's me his vin. I know FORD wants a boat load for the dually fenders, that's why I was kinda leaning towards the 11-up, they look like they may be a little less expensive and it would be unique...I guess.
My pan is to run a Helwig BigWig sway bar out back, which I may try before I do the swap. Im not looking for any increased capacity, just more stability.

a. cost of rims/spacers
b. cost of all new tires since my 18" wont fit
c. cost of fenders and painting
d. invention for fuel nozzle since mos fenders were for long beds
This would have given me dually look, but not really dually functionality.
Decided to trade in my f-250 05 on an f-350 08 dually CC LB V-10.
a. gained a v-10
b. gained a 4.10 rear end
c. gained a long bed
d. gained true dually load abaility
e. gained 2.5 class 4 hitch
f. traded in an 88K truck for a 57K truck.
g. did lose Lariet trim and down graded to XL trim
I may have been more inclined to keep the 05 if it were a v-10.
This will be the deciding factor on my conversion...If it wont fit in my garage its a no go, I don't want to keep the truck outside all winter, and if I put it in the bigger part of my shop I would have to move it in and out every day...not good for a diesel as I don't drive it during the winter unless the roads are clean.

You saw I gave you the vins for both an '05 and and '11 dually, right?
I couldn't find how wide it was, I will have to measure my door and how wide my lift is...this is the deciding factor. I have located everything else I need...but if its too wide Im gonna scrap the idea for good, I just cant bring myself to let this thing sit outside all winter.
Thanks,
