I have a aftermarket temp gauge I want to put on my 1990 F150 Inline 6 4.9L Electronic Fuel Injection.
I have two choices
A) find a joiner/splitter on the temperature sendin unit.
or
B) find the Block Drain Plug and install it through that way.
However I can't find the Block (coolant) drain unit.
Could someone help me out? Any and all help is usefull, thank you in advance.
Since this is a Electronic Fuel Injected (Ported/Direct Injected), could I just screw in the new gauge where the factory Temperature Sending Unit is or would it cause the motor to stay in open loop?

Reason: more information
It is best to put the sender just before the thermostat to get an accurate read on how hot the engine is running. The water at the drain plug will be cooler than the water as it leaves the engine. Do you need to have the factory gauge functioning, or can you swap one sender for the other?

Yeah, there should be 2 sensors. 1 for the EEC and another for the factory gauge. If you don't mind a dead factory gauge, you can replace it's sensor with your new one. Personally that would be an annoyance to me though. How bout teeing into a heater hose?
