Just got the call from my mechanic that the spring swap is complete. I had ordered new springs from Tousley Ford and gave the mechanic the instructions on how to modd the rear b codes. He just called and told me that the rear Rancho 5000 shocks I put on a year and half ago are junk. WTF I thought they were ok quality. The fronts are Rancho 7000 they seem to be ok. What do you guys think I should replace them with. The new bumpers are coming at the end of the week and want to get it all done before I drop it off at the body shop. Thanks
If you go with Rancho 9000, recommend to change all four and install the remote to change the setting in the cap instead of craw under the truck everytime you want/need to change the stiffness setting
I tried. Bilstein wanted a receipt, returning the shocks was not good enough for them. Ordered online, didn't have a receipt. They did everything they could to not honor warranty. Those Bilstein shocks didn't last 3 years, and certainly didn't make it 36k miles - no hard use either. FWIW, I mentioned Bilstein shocks to my mechanic yesterday and he said, "Don't bother, they're overhyped junk." Wouldn't have believed that prior to my experience.
Well now I feel the same way about the Rancho 5000 the ones I had on the rear didn't last 2 years. The 7000mt seem to be fine in the front. Not sure what I'm gonna do.
they don't offer the rs7000mt Rancho for the rear of the x only for the f250. I have them on the front and they work well Do you think the f250 shock would fit the x? On the Rancho site the fronts are the same for the x and the F250
Now with the modded b codes in the rear would the F 250 shock fit on the excursion. I'm noticing that the Rancho site has the same models for the front and different for the rear. My question is will the F 250 shock fit in the rear of the x. Thanks
No the top mount is different. I just installed the 4wd Rancho 9000s for the Ex and they r actually a hair longer than the ones the 4wd f250 call for.
Here is my conversation with the Rancho rep that's on here:
