Are IH 7.3's the same as a Ford 7.3

I am helping a buddy build a 2001 IH 4900 with a 7.3 the block was frozen and cracked, no start even with fluid.

Question: will this block have forged rods or the powder rods
and can we swap over ford parts.

We just acquired a donor engine (improper injector install, fuel in the oil )

If it is a t444 block... yes... its exactly the same guts as the "ford" 7.3...

Not for absolute sure on forged or pmr but i would guess the same year changes apply.

I would pay attention to the camshaft and head gaskets as they may be different from the F-250/550 models. The blue striped head gaskets are a little thinner and can be observed with the engine assembled since a little tab sticks out.

Oh? That's interesting. I was talking to an IH mechanic one time and he was talking about the UVCH being one of the most common failures on the T444E, so I assumed they were the same design.

we had a 2001 4700 with the T444E and it lost the passenger side UVCH.
since i had a spare set sitting in the shop for the pickups, i tried it. completely different animal. ended up having to go to international to get the proper harness.

Was it the OBS style gasket and harness? (top photo on page 2 of the attached...)

nope, we did not have and pre superduty diesels at that shop.
we had 24 2000 to 2003 F-350 7.3 trucks, 11 6.0 trucks, and 2 6.4 trucks.
