Roof side rail or door fit issue

Hey guys-
I was wondering if anyone has had an issue with the roof side rail wetherstrip wearing on the top of the door? I noticed the problem the other day on my "new to me" truck, where it has worn through the paint in some areas and actually started to wear into the steel of the door at the top seam. The roof side rail weatherstrip, OEM #51222, seems rather hard, like it's hardened with age. I am wondering if this a door fit issue, a weatherstrip issue or a door seal issue, or combo of all three. The wear pattern is the same on all four doors. On the front doors, the wear is the entire length of the pillar to about the mid point of the roof line. On the back doors, the wear is from the hinge side to the mid point of the door. I was already planning on doing the door seal latex tubing mod/fix, so I'm wondering if that will keep the door from engaging the side rail weatherstrip so firmly. Replacement weatherstiping isnt terribly expensive so I'll be replacing them as well. Since the wear is on the hinge side of the doors, could it be that the door needs adjustment at the hinge? Is the door adjustable at the hinge? Along with fixing the fitment issues I'll need to prep and repaint the damaged areas to prevent rusting. Any thoughts/advice is appreciated.

Every F-series of the age of our trucks seems to have worn through the paint along the door gaskets. In the climate where I live, this isn't an issue. I doubt that new door seals will help or change this, nor would painting the doors really make a difference for very long.

Thanks for the reply!
My concern is not only has it worn through the paint, but has also started wearing through the steel of the top door seam. That seems a bit excessive to not address the issue.
