The valve itself may still be there and plugged into the intake manifold but most likely the cooler/pipe has been deleted. Most guys will leave the EGR bolted onto the manifold and plugged in so the cooling fan and turbo vane sweep still operate correctly. At that point the EGR is just there for everything else to be happy. You can use the SCT tuner to turn off the CEL for the EGR flow codes.

The SCT will turn off the codes. It is a bit hard to tell from those pictures if it's a stealth delete (which would be hard to tell anyway) or a full delete.

Either way, leave the valve plugged in, because unplugging it can cause your turbo guide vanes and engine fan to not function properly.

Here is a picture looking down at mine. Note the part with the hand written numbers? That is the EGR cooler. The blue hose is hooked to it. If the part with the numbers is not there, you have an EGR delete. Now, if it is there, you could still have an EGR delete, just makes it difficult to tell how it was done.

Looking at this post, you might have a round EGR cooler, depending on when your motor was built! (04's had a change in the motor)

Early or Late build motor. Early will have a round EGR cooler, Late has the square.

To find for sure what your motor is, look at the valve cover on passenger side and look for the ICP sensor. If it is there, you have a late build motor. Not there, you have an early build motor. This might need to be known going forward with other issues or questions you might have.

Here is the valve cover with the ICP sensor on the valve cover, just under alternator. (see the brown sensor lower part of picture, center)

As I understand it: if you disconnect the EGR Valve (which is what you currently still have plugged in on the top of your intake manifold) then there are critical parameters which the PCM does not get/read that it needs to properly control the fan speed, and actuate the guide vanes on your variable-geometry turbo (which this will cause turbo failure.)

This is why you leave the valve plugged in even after a delete. You just get a low flow (P0401) DTS code, since it's not detecting any EGR flow.

Ok I'm thinking about your theory chewedtoothpick. If you block off the egr with a plate. It's still not there. But yet the truck will run fine. I think you're right until you have a tuner to shut off the check engine light
