It didn't feel like it when I tried. Can't I just cheat and bump the starter a little? It seems to me that once you get the pump to pop out, you need to continue to turn the motor so the cam will bottom out and make it easier to install the new pump. Is that correct?

Didn't feel like what? Trust me you can turn it by hand. It's not hard. That's how I got my fuel pump out and torque converter bolts loose, so I know for a fact it can be done.

Okay, I got the old pump out, new pump going in. Are there supposed to be gaskets on each side of the banjo fitting? I don't remember seeing any with the new pump, and I found one laying in the valley, one stuck to the back of the original pump. Will the old ones work, or should I be looking for replacements?

With the amount of time it takes to R&R and the chance of a leak, I would go with new.
