fuel heater

I was repalceing the fuel heater today when i noticed that the wire on the inside of the fuel separater looked like it had been soldiered to the plate in the bottom of the fuel bowl. there was also some grit in the bottom of the bowl. I quess my first question is should i replace the plate where the wire use to be soldiered to? And should i be concerned about the gritty stuff in the bottom of the fuel bowl? Also can i used the truck if I leave the wire out of the fuel bowl? Thanks in advance.

the wire is supposed to be soldered...
when it comes un soldered thats when it shorts out against the side of the fuel bowl...causing fuse 22 to blow and a no start/stall situation...

you can replace it or leave it out.... or upgrade it... its up to you..

i suggest you take a look at this.......part numbers and everything you need for original/ upgrade... i suggest you find an ih dealer..........
