Well... need a new toy hauler and my newly purchased 02' Excursion fits the bill. Wanted to post a pic or two but no paper clip thingy. I did put a few in my album and it's the one in the avatar.
This truck will be used for towing and long hauling.... primarily for a 10K boat and back-n-forth from TN to Fl. I'm not looking to change the height or go super mudder... just hauling and running.
Looking for some experiences with touch screen nav/pandora radio applications and your recommendations. I'd be doing it myself.
Tuners... my boys tell me Edge tuner... so let me know what you recommend. I need tow and economy modes mostly. I not a go faster at all.
Brake up grades for down the mountains... I have a place in E. TN so them hills can be pretty steep.
Suspension air lift kits. Towing the boat is what I'd use it for... 600# tongue weight but 95% on flat ground in FL.
Glad to be here and look forward to learning about my new to me ride.
Oh... PS... the wife isn't usta Diesel noise so is there any sound proofing anyone has done?
A member removed the carpet and soundproofed the floor on his X a while ago but I can't remember who... I'd go through a few pages of threads and I'm sure you'll find it...
Too many questions. Start by doing a forum search, go to "advanced" and search "titles only". You will probably find more info in the 7.3L section (its a little farther down below the Excursion section.)
Congrats on the purchase, you picked the best!
PS, take your wife for a ride in a Super Duty 7.3, the Excursion 7.3 is quiet by a comparison.
Some of us are using RAS to help with the rear suspension. If you don't have a sway bar you might want to pick up a stocker from the junkyard or a hellwig. Lots of good information for you here on the board.
I know that SCT is hands down the best tuner for the 6.0 but I'm not so sure about the 7.3. I'm sure others will chime in and help out.
Nice choice and welcome to the club! If you have a Photobucket account you can post your pictures there and insert them into posts by copying there IMG codes. The Ex makes a great toy hauler. Brakes can be easily upgraded with either just Hawk LTS or Superduty pads or do the whole package and put new rotors on as well. Any type of brake pulsing in the pedal when stopping will most likely be cured by new rotors. Good luck!
