HAS ANYONE heard of any problems with the NEW 2013 Ford Escapes? my mother has one the just stops when it decides to. The first time she just went through a set of lights, the car just died. she managed to pull over. It started allowing me to get it back to ford in town. Yesterday ,,RUSH hour on the highway it died, driving 70 it just stopped. she managed to get to the right lane coasting to the side. started it back up again drove it to ford. They have had it on all the machines , NOT A THING comes up...shes waiting for 3rd strike, is she going to get nailed next time ? This car now has her nervous ans almost scared to drive it.... Does anyone know of any other 2013 with problems???Ford cant find any...my car is now back at the dealership...
If it were mine, I'd be all over the dealer. You know how dangerous it is to have a problem like that, and so does the dealer. Suggest that your service manager trade his vehicle for hers for a few days... Would he like to drive a car that just stopped?
Other than being a little more pushy, I'd be looking at the battery cables, ground and the power distribution box. Something is loose.
When it dies, do all the dash warning lights come on or is it 'dead' with absolutely no lights? The latter indicates loss of power to everything. The former, loss of power to the PCM and associated 'stuff'. I don't have a book, but take a look at the relays in the underhood box once you determine what is dead, what is alive, and maybe trade one for another...
Actually, I'd be all over the dealer as noted. Get them to provide a loaner until they can fix this problem. The service guy should be willing to do a short term 'trade' as he should know he'd be in court should there be an accident. At least I'd think so.

Although manuals clearly state that you can have a issues without a DTC most dealers won't do squat for you no matter what the results can be. I know, I've been there.
Hey there, I was wondering if you have had this issue resolved? If so, what was done? I am having very similar issues with my wife's 13 Escape. Every time I take it to the dealer I am treated like a waste of their time. Thank You.
She got fed up and traded it in for a kit sorento which has had no problems other then being almost run over by a transport truck that didn't make a wide enough left turn

Which motor? If its the 2.0 theirs a engine wiring harness splice repair TSB that might be your problem. Theirs also a fuel pump TSB that might fit the bill. Check with your dealer.
