(1977 351m v8)
hello all,
i recently removed my distributor cap and sanded down the connections. while doing that i took off all the spark plug wires and got them out of order..
so i randomly placed them back on and pulled down the driveway (i believe it was probably running on 4-5 cylinders)
But then I rearranged the wires to be in the correct order for the engine and it wont start.
i dont know why it wont start but could somebody help me??? please.
thank you so much.
(I'm on a slight time crunch because the truck is taking up the driveway.)
sounds like you are 180deg out on firing order. Get number one to TDC and start from that. Take the sparkplug out and put your thumb over it as you crank it slowly, you should be able to feel it.
Otherwise (and I prefer it) is to quickly take the rocker cover off that side and once you get the rockers for number one "on the rock"-they will both be able to be moved a little side to side and that will be tdc close enough to get your firing order sorted.
The top of my engine is pretty clear-wasnt when I bought it-so that method may not be so easy for you.
that is a good diagram Dimora-from the number of confused timing questionson this forum, especially from old windsor boys, maybe this should be a sticky?
