Just wanted to comment on my truck after the HD4R100 install. It's like a whole new truck. I guess I didn't realize how bad the old trans was slipping. I break tires loose in the stock tune almost every time I turn, and I can pass people much easier now!
Good to know, when mine goes I'm going the HD4R100 route unless I can find someone to rebuild it to those specs. for less money. Did you install it yourself or did the dealer do it?
Break tires loose in stock tune? How small are your tires?

I suspect he means when he corners. Ya gotta watch it now... I shredded about 10K miles off my last set of tires (spin, rotate, repeat). That was before the new sticks.

I had a buddy do it for me "on the side" with me "helping".

It took me a long time to figure out why I was going through tires so fast. I never heard them spinning over the exhaust and stereo. I have been thinking about sticks recently....among other things that I do not have money for.

This.
I've looked back a couple of times and have been surprised to see a pair of dual wheel prints on the road after some aggressive acceleration out of turns in 60E tune.
I remember taking my balloons in for trade for tires. On the way to the tire store, I figured "what the hell" and took Stinky out for a "spin" on a straight stretch of 'sphalt with stage II sticks. While Mat and Pedal were makin' bacon, I remember thinking "I thought I'd have more bacon than this". That's when I looked back and saw what was left of my tread lying in tiny particles on the road... still steamy. "Oh.... Gotta work on a tune that prevents that." I now have a tune that gets me rollin', then the satanic bat is unleashed - all go and no show.

Nice Rich. I realy want to get more HP out of this truck. What supporting mods did you do for your sticks? HPOP? Any fuel system mods besides the FRX?

{cracking knuckles}
Step 1. Get truck to 100%. Good sensors and controls, solid transmission, all exhaust/boost leaks addressed, a good intake system, fuel mods, and gauges/scan tool with plenty of seat time to analyze how close to 100% the truck is getting. If something needs to be replaced, check to see if anything is available to increase reliability. A good example of this is the intake plenum leak I had... I went to the billet plenums (and RRD CAC boots with T-bolt clamps). Another example is the IH up pipes instead of the OEM units. Step 2. I maxed my stock turbo out with stock injectors and a tuner... right to its design limit. If you're gunna add fuel, you're gunna want more air. In keeping with the stock-ish theme (not intimidating or a mystery for others to work on), I went the 38R route.
Step 3. Get an injector guy. It's not a simple matter of grabbing fire hoses off the shelf and slappin' 'em in. If you get custom sticks (with bigger nozzles and capacity), they need to be flow balanced to just below idle pressures and pulse width. Any schmoe can get a set of injectors to flow nice at WOT... but it takes a bit of doing to get the sticks to idle and cruise with excellent manners.
Step 4. Get your tuning guy... somebody with a good reputation and a lot of seat time with the sticks you choose. I also suggest getting the tuning hardware to get tuning tweaks emailed to you... this really narrows the field.
Step 5. Get a freaking inch-pound torque wrench. I tried to hop over this one and it led to... wellll... this:
