Why are the remanufactured injectors for my 93 F350 turbo $169 for eight on eBay but $87 a piece at NAPA? Is there that much difference in them? Was wanting to do a little maintenance to the old dog. I like the eBay price much better.
NAPA has to pay there corp. and advertising execs. while the guy on E-Bay just has to put food on his table. You can get a set of matched new ones for about. $275 plus a return line kit and all the o-rings from board member NMB2.
Why does NAPA cost so much more??? I used to work at a DistributionCenter “DC” as an Office Manager. Theirpricing structure is interesting to figure out. First they own a lot of thesmaller distributers so they all have to make a profit. Sometimes parts wouldpass between 2 to 3 different vendors before heading to a warehouse owned byGenuine Parts Company. That way they can hide the true cost form theindependent store owners. In my market there were 75+ stores with only 15 beingcompany stores. As employees we could buy at cost plus 10% where the independentstores had a cost plus 25%. From there they need to mark up for retail. There used to be multiple levels of retail/wholesalepricing that was based on your volume of business. Off the street is alwayshighest. <o></o>
Now when you look at the vendors on the internet – most aredoing the work in house and do not have multiple layers that add on expenses
Go to that link that HBN just posted. Click on injectors on the left of the screen. The guy that rebuilds those is a member here and knows his stuff so for a few more dollars over the ebay ones you'll get injectors that you know are not just cleaned up for resale.
Do research, find reviews there are plenty on here, seems like a craps shoot with cheapo stuff like ebay injectors. Half the time theyre no better than what youre taking out, with one, two, or even more leaking as soon as you put them in. Also seems that alot of the time the pop pressures arent matched. Alot of the time they just clean em and say theyre rebuilt. Labor costs money. Im willing to say that in my opinion (which i think pretty highly of) Justins injectors are the best bang for the buck you can get. He goes through all the steps, and gets rid of the junk that wont perform up to his standards.
I know every one sais that ebay injectors are crap and I am sure some are but I got a set for $100 off ebay. If you go that route get them pop tested before you install them. Mine have ran fine so far for about 10,000 miles but I have noticed that one is leaking at the threads of the hard line.
My next ones will be from one of the vendors on here because I have more cash now but do what your wallet will allow
