Question 1978 f250 cummins conversion

well I got a 1978 f-250 4x4 460 c6. pulling out for a 91 Cummins with a 518 auto. just have questions on weather or not to use the 518 or the c6? . guy I got it from said the 518 only had 10k miles on it when pulled out. also can you run a for np 205 on the back of the 518?

is there a way I can put it in just 2wd it to test transmission instead of getting it all together and finding out transmission is shot?

Try NorthWest Fab or Advance Adapters.

You should be able to run the NV4500 adapter. I just picked one up for my 727. Same pattern and spline count. 50-0207 is the part number. A to Z fabrication had the best price that I found.

Ok I will check that out. Is it a pretty tough adapter? Would hate to have a weak link

Contact A to Z, they can get it. They were roughly $60 cheaper than any other vendor I found. I got ahold of them on Pirate 4x4 via PM.

The adapter is about 2 to 2-1/2 inches thick. It looks like a cast piece that they machine to fit whatever application they need. The spud is about 4-5" long and has at least 2" of spline engagement on each side. Very tight/sound engagement I might add, not sloppy at all. I'll see what I can do to grab a picture tonight.
