Hey guys I got a 1990 f150 with a 4.9 efi and I'm wanting to put my 88 5.0 carbed motor in it I was wondering if it will fit the 4 speed that was on the 4.9 and are the motor mounts the same. Thanks.
Not trying to bash your idea, but why would you want to swap out a 4.9? The 4.9 will get better MPG, and it makes torque at lower RPMs.
Should fit the 4 speed as far as I know.
Because my 4.9 I dropped 2 grand in the motor its cammed over with port and polished head and oversized valves and not impressed at all 4.9 are built for torque and that's it .

Cammed, port and polish....what about intake and exhaust?
If you have a beefed up 300 with a 4bbl and header along with the cam and P&P, and you are not happy with it, why do you think you will be happy with an '88 carb'd 302? It will rev out and have more top end horsepower, but it will be pretty soft on the low end compared to the 300.
If you are looking for a dramatic power increase, you should think stroker or 351W or stroker 351W.
Ive had both and i liked the 302 better there is a limit to the 300 im not knockin it damn good motor for a work truck but for a daily driver/ toy i liked the 302
