With the 4 speed and 6.20, a Briggs and Stratton long mower engine will pull stumps! Just not going to win many stoplight drag races even against 6 year olds on tricycles.
Well, that ratio makes me wonder....
I have found a 76 half ton with a bed to match my 55 already on it. I can get the rolling chassis with power steering and the bed plus the steering column and manual MC for 9 bills. No engine or trans. Wonder if I can get the 239 and 4speed to fit that chassis, or if it is worth it...
Anyone with thoughts or experience with such a project?
Ax, I will change her name to Grace rather than Gracie. I forgot that name was your ride. Grace was my first thought when I first got her.
I always say that a vehicle will tell you their name if they should have one. My panel told me her name was Gracie on our drive home. She was like the late Gracie Allen, attractive in her own way, 50s class kinda gal, amusing and zany without trying. She had a high pitched wind whine, but endearing enough that I wanted to bring her home and introduce her to the family.
If your truck told you her name was also Gracie, then that's what it should be, there certainly is more than one Gracie in this world, Don't try to change it, she may object decide to leave you high and dry!
Here's what I found:
1st 6.4 to 1
2nd 3.09 to 1
Third 1.69 to 1
4th 1 to 1
If those are not correct, I am sure that NumberDummy would be able to correct me.
My research show that the same ratios were used in the 4 speeds from 1932 to 1964.
Here's what I found:
1st 6.4 to 1
2nd 3.09 to 1
Third 1.69 to 1
4th 1 to 1
I just looked in my book for the specs, and see that reverse is 7.82 to 1. So, if I could be pulling stumps in granny first (6.4 to 1) I guess I could move a building in reverse!
Maybe I should've volunteered to tow the Space Shuttle around L.A...
