Time for new Injectors?

I've been noticing that my flatbed (about 220k) has been Snelling a little rich in exhaust lately. Not throwing any CEL or running rough, no lack of power, just......a little smelly, like unburnt diesel. I've been figuring my injectors were probably needing a change out soon, but was hoping to make it til Sept./ Oct. rolled around when the mowing season is winding down and things are slower. Any suggestions that I can do to preserve them a little longer to get through, or I at the very top of a slippery down hill slope that I should resolve ASAP? In looking for oil additives, oil viscosity change, or fuel additives that may help. Thanks!

If you're not seeing any other symptoms, I'd say you're fine. Leave it alone for a few months and change them when things slow down for you.

if you are not having power loss or smoke your injectors may not be bad, im working on a f550 that just turned over 300k stock injectors.

The passenger side fuel line that runs from the fuel bowl to the rear of the head is notorious for rubbing a hole where it's clamped. Check for fuel on top of the engine.

Rich exhaust: That could be something as simple as a bad sensor in the truck... like the Injector Control Pressure sensor. If you feel the urge to spend some money now, you can always get a scan tool. This will let you know for sure what's going on, and you'll be able to plan your budget and schedule. Plus - if you have any issues with the truck, the scan tool will let you discover the problem quickly... not just be some mystery that takes your truck offline until you find a slot in a mechanic's schedule. Oh... and there's that thing about all the money you save when you have your own diagnostic tool.
