injector question

I think that life expectancy and useful life are two different things... I got 215k out of the injectors in my truck, but they had had it and were done being useful. Still worked, but not well. It also depends on how well the truck has been taken care of since it was new. Ignoring the oil system and not keeping good, clean oil in it will destroy injectors faster than high mileage.

They say 200,000 is about the average life expectancy. I started having issues with mine at right around 150,000. I believe there were symptoms prior to that, but they were slight, like a little puff of white smoke on start up and then running a little rough until she warmed up, not terribly, just a little. My father has around 190,000 on his, and is still running great. I was doing extended oil change intervals based on used oil analysis, and I think that it had a negative effect on my injectors. I don't know that for certain, but that is what I suspect did mine in.

I do extended oil changes based on oil analysis (12-16k miles) and ive got 278k miles on original injectors. No hard starts, no smoke at startup. But i do notice a bit of haze now and then when stomping it to pass another car sometimes, not everytime but sometimes. Still get 18mpg. Im thinking of doing an upgrade at about 300k, but we shall see.
