So I'm in the process of changing my fuel filters. The new upper one was identical to the one I pulled out, but the lower was not. Did I have an aftermarket lower in there?
Also, while attempting to put the new one in I must have grabbed the underside of the truck while sliding in and got some dirt on my fingers which transferred to the new filter (pic below). This immediately set off my OCD and I'm hesitant even using it now or and buying yet another one and being a bit more careful. Whatddya think?
Your new fuel filter is the redesigned Motorcraft/Racor unit. The slight bit of grease on the outside of the filter should be no problem (based on identical experiences here).
Your old lower filter looks to be aftermarket since it does not have the aqua-block wrapping around the filter.
