So me and my buddy just got the 5.0 in his truck hooked up and we tried to start it , and it just turned over semi fast and wouldn't fire, the tachometer showed no movement , don't know if that's related , to me it seemed like the engine wasn't spinning fast enough to start , I know we got the firing order right , but maybe he didn't find tdc right , maybe that would cause it not to fire ? It's getting fuel but she won't go , we looked at the battery and I was really low , so we put it on the charger and are waiting to start it again , could it not start because of battery being really low? Any ideas ?
I know this is gonna sound stupid, but when I rebuilt my 302, it wouldn't since I had forgotten to hook the coil wire up, which if you have a tach would be the same. Plug from main harness for voltage. Hopefully its that simple a fix.
Ok update , so we turned the crank till the timing marker pointed at 0. Got the firing order and tried again , it cranked over and started . But was running rough , the engine was shaking a decent amount and there was alot of loud tapping , I'm assuming its coming from the roller rockers, how can I get this thing to run smooth ? Is the timing just messed up ?
Thanks
Now we Forsure got the firing order right and it starts up good , but the engine shakes alot , and makes a bang bang bang noise . I think it Could be my headers severely leaking because the gauge shows it idling smooth at 750 ish , also I do not have a knock sensor installed and nothing plugging the hole , If that makes any difference
