Better question is, if you weren't using the city water connection, why wasn't the cap threaded into it anyways?
It didn't have one there when we purchased the trailer and didn't see the need for one until this happened. We do now except when city water is connected.
If you were using a city water connection why did you throw in the un-needed mention that you turned on the water pump? Why would you turn on the water pump when you had city water? I didn't even consider a city water overflow......
Cougar had it right, no connection as noted in my original post.
"The pump still works, there are twin freshwater tanks, the hot water heater is on the passenger side, and there are no hookups."
Remember this was a trivia/challenge question and I added more info then was necessary to toughen it up a bit. However, none of that info incorrect, just more then you needed.
