Riding off of Greywolf's trivia posting the other day, I thought I'd add another scenario.
I get to the Outdoor Motocross Championships at Pala Raceway. I set up camp and turn on the hot water heater, water pump, a/c, etc.
After a few minutes listening to some music under the awning, I hear water running.
I shut off the water pump and find a flood, with a hole full of water on the trailer's, driver side.
1) What could have happened to create such a mess?
2) What 3 things could I have done to use my fresh water again for the weekend?
The pump still works, there are twin freshwater tanks, the hot water heater is on the passenger side, and there are no hookups.
Wow! What happened to all of those trailer/towing experts out there. I know Greywolf is biting his tongue.
The pressure regulator works fine and my shower too.
Anyone else?
This one has me stumped. I keep coming back to a hose that came off.
Perhaps you have a hose that you use for winterization. I have one. I has a valve on it that must be closed when not in use.
We live in So Cal and we have no idea what winterizing is all about. We rarely see rain, let alone snow, or freezing weather. it will between 106-109 just north of the LA basin today. No winterizing issues involved.
No...for the life of me I cannot come up with any other reasons for the leak.
I can tell this is one of ones that makes you wish you had a V8.
Okay, the one way valve in the city water connection failed. I found some broken plastic and a spring on the ground next to the hole. When the valve failed, the pump fed the need for water but in this case, it was out the broken valve. Since the city line tees between the output side of the pump and the line that supplies all water, and all trailer faucets were closed, out went the water onto the ground.
The fixes...
1) Buy a 3/4 NH (national hose thread) plug and insert into the city connector until I got home. Easiest. (Now have several extras in the trailer).
2) Remove/plug the tee as described above and eliminate the line coming in/now going out. Next option.
3) Replace the city connector/valve but having to drive a ways to find one.
Now need a V-8?
If you were using a city water connection why did you throw in the un-needed mention that you turned on the water pump? Why would you turn on the water pump when you had city water? I didn't even consider a city water overflow......
