Hey Guys, having some trouble here. I am a new guy both in this forum and to OEM radios. I have a 2009 F250 King Ranch with a radio with CD, SAT and blue tooth, it was just missing Nav. I bought a head unit from a 2012 King Ranch, mounted it and all i hear is base. It turns on just fine, but thats it.
When i put in reverse my cam in my rear view mirror works but the nav unit just goes blank. I can change through stations but all that works is the base. also when i put on satelite I get that i need a subcrition (that i can deal with)
I went from a head unit with three plugs in back to the new radio that has four. Although i had nothing to plug in last socket.
Ask your dealer who does factory radio swaps and service (dealers don't do that sort of work; they farm it out). Talk to that person independently and if they can't do it, they can direct you to someone who can.
Usually, most major metro areas have one to three shops who service all the dealers in the area.
*IF* your dealer has a tech who knows what he's doing, IDS (ford diagnostic software) is capable of doing the reprogramming, but it takes a lot of work (and a VIN from an originally-equipped vehicle), and they'll charge you at least an hour's worth of labor for the pleasure -- usually north of $100.
The radio shop can do it on a bench for $50; no VIN, no IDS.
Bad news! Found out that the radio I bought off a 2012 F250 KR has external amps and the wiring is different even though the plugs match up. Ford tells me that it will not work, Best Buy says the same and the Local San Antonio stereo guy agrees.
Unless someone out there knows different,I think I just bought me a $600 paper weight
H&H (and/or their equivalent in San Antonio) might be willing to work a trade with you. I had to make three attempts to get mine right, through no fault of theirs, and they were willing to work with me. (I was trying to get the factory Audiophile option, which was offered in the 2005-2006 and 2008+ SuperDuties, but not the 2007.)
