Hey guys I'm looking to get a new exhaust but not to sure what one to go with. Right now I'm running stock exhaust with a muffler delete pipe. I'm looking to go slightly larger diameter, a little quieter than i have now and a single exit exhaust.
I like my 4"MBRP it sounds good and not too loud. I just straight piped the 4" MBRP, love the turbo sound but the drone bothers me.I am going to try a 5" next and it will be MBRP again.
Mine sounds very similar to Kyle's, I have a 4" turbo back of unknown origin, it was on the truck when I got it, I installed a Walker BTM and 6" s.t. tip. Very quiet in the cab when cruising.
Now the main reason i want to go with a muffler is due to the fact that i will be moving soon and the house I'm moving into is closer to my neighbors than my house ifs now and i want to quiet out down a little so i don't have them complaining too much. What is better the 409 stainless or the 304? And is it better to get a 4 inch or 5 inch?

I have the 4" MBRP with muffler. Living in the city dictates the need for a slightly quieter system, although in my opinion, it's still pretty loud. I can only imagine the 5" system being louder.
As far as stainless, the T304 is a higher grade with more chromium and nickel content than the T409. The T409 is more prone to corrosion and will rust.
I have a 5in FloPro. I like it. There arnt many other trucks to compare it to around here though and I feel like youtube videos dont do it justice. One of our other trucks has dual 4in Magnaflows and that sounds really nice too. Bottom line, almost anything will sound better than stock.
I know they will sound better but are they any quieter?
I'm sure you could find a quieter (in cab) one. But that's going to be hard to judge from a you tube video inside a cab. Any of the name brand systems with a muffler shouldn't be loud inside the cab. Not normally anyways. You are driving a diesel you must remember. It will always be louder than a gas truck or a car.
You wont find a quieter one outside the cab. Performance exhaust systems are designed to be bigger and increase flow. With that increase in flow, is an equal increase in sound because there is less material between the engine and the tip. Less to restrict flow=less to absorb sound
I'm not looking for noise reduction in the cab its mainly outside and i know that its a diesel and i know they make some noise i wad just curious if a me exhaust like an mrbp would quiet out down outside since it had a muffler and i don't out is it about the same? If its the same noise wise outside than why spend 800 on a new exhaust of you don't need to? Does a new exhaust actually do anything different than my stock muffler deleted exhaust?
