Transmission replacement questions
Hey,
I have a 2001 e350 with a 5.4 and a 4R70W transmission. The transmission recently went and I am looking for a used replacement. Can I take a 4R70W from any vehicle and it will be a direct swap? More praticularly I found a reasonably priced 4R70W from an e150. Will this work in my e350? I am assuming it would but I really dont want to order this thing and have it get here and have a 250 lb paper weight !

Your donor choices are a 2001-2003 E250/E350 with the 5.4L. The other transmissions will not swap. 5.4L backing transmissions have a different cut of gear in them than the 4.2L/4.6L transmissions, to help them cope with the torque output. AFAIK the van transmissions use a different pan to clear the y-pipe.
