HID Conversion help

I've read through several forums here and do not see much on HID conversions.
I have a 2011 F150 and I would love to convert HID. The stock light buckets and kits are outrageous in price, though they look nice as hell with the little F150 inside.
I see lots of comments on just replacing stock bulbs for brighter Phillips Ultra bulbs and similar products.
Any help out there on the conversion? Success stories or parts referrals?

h13 bulb. I ran a conversion in my 09 for 3 years and my 2012 for over a year until I upgraded to spyder projectors. very easy to install. Stock harness plugs into ballast, ballas plugs into hid with 2 plugs.. You have a regular hid which has the high beam as a regular bulb next to the hid and you have a bi-xenon setup. I have used both and the bi-xenons are better, but you must also have the relay harness for the bi-xenon so it will trigger the high beam. very easy to install

I ran an HID kit on my 08 Lariat SCREW for about a year. I took that kit off and put it on my new 12 FX4 SCREW. Simple to install just plug and play. As mentioned above you do have to have the relay harness to control your high beams. I made my own kit using Sportiva 35 W ballast and Luminez 8K bulbs in both my headlights and my running / driving lights. They are super bright and look great! I've had more compliments on them than you could imagine. I have now been running this same setup for about two years and have Not had any problems.

Just replacing the bulbs isn't a complete HID conversion. That doesn't include the shutters/bulb leveling that are necessary to keep from blinding other drivers.

If I end up facing you head-on and your poor HID conversions keep me from seeing the road, I may find it necessary to increase my illumination to compensate. A 20" Ridgid LED stick is usually sufficient for this task.

Touchy subject for you or what. Let the man do what he wants. If he ends up with a ticket for it then that's on him. That's why I went with a full projector conversion on mine. Cops didn't like the hids anymore in the factory housing.

The retrofit source is where you can source many projectors and pieces for a conversion set. I did a conversion on my truck and it was nice while it held up, but what of my lenses cracked and I really don't want to go through the effort of unsealing my headlights and drilling a new hole to get at my lense (because I epoxied them in place). So I just reverted back to OEM headlights. I also ran into an issue where I was driving through wet snow and the HID conversion did not heat the lamps enough to prevent buildup on my front end. By the time I got home, I had about 200+ lbs of snow and slush on the front end of my truck. So I'm sticking with Halogen for now. I would love to go LED, but I have the same lack-of-heat issue that I had on my truck.

Jeez! Are we a lil **** or what? Projectors suck. I have them on my Edge and you can't see squat. You don't need to add shutters / leveler to lower your beams. Last time I checked there was an adjustment screw on the housing to do just that, LOWER your beam.
