Ok I'm missing something I think. Just got done with Injector cup replacement on my 2000 F250 7.3L. Cranked the engine over by hand before putting it back together and got most of the oil / sludge out of cylinders.
Got it all put back together, but she no start. With booster attached she's spinning strong. A couple times it sounded like she wanted to try and right about then the battery ran out of juice. I heard that getting them started after this operation can be, shall we say challenging?
Is there anything I should check that you can think of that I might be missing. I didn't really have a step by step on this one, but between you guys here and a few videos on Utube think I got the job done right. The couple times it did try to start wife said she saw smoke out the exaust.... I take it that's left over oil in the system, sure does smell like it.
Do I just get them batteries charged up again, and crank away or?
ya you should be good, some refill the oil rails in the heads. i did not. it just took a little longer to fire up. check to make sure your hpop is full of oil though. and let the starter cool down some in between try's .
You definitely need to charge the batterys before you try to start it again. Then see if you have 500 PSI of ICP, these engines can be tuff to get going when you get air in the HPO system.
Man if that was just the 2nd time you cranked it over Stinky started up quite easy lol. thinking about opening fuel filter just to make sure its full up. With my luck I'm pump air.
I like the looks of that app you have on tablet. What is it?

Between the synthetic oil and the new injectors, Stinky's always anxious to roll.

if momma says she saw smoke the fuel is getting there "white smoke" . as stated, check oil, charge batt., and have at it. it took mine about 5 or 6 try's before she fired.

Wow way over my head. how do I check for 500 PSI of ICP. I see an ICP connection in Tugly's reply picture. If not at 500 PSI how do I get it up there?

I know oil level is not full up. But that like wouldn't keep it from starting would it? I almost feel like online with tech support for cars..... my car starts but the no 2 cylinder is misfiring.... Well does the horn work? Sorry, I'm not real big on diesel engines, I knew this was a big job to undertake while not knowing what I am doing.

Sorry tappit missed your reply entirely somehow.... my question will make you laugh I'm sure.... What's an HPOP.

Finding a gauge that will monitor up to 4000 PSI is not as easy as hooking up a scan tool to utilize the sensors built into the truck. There are other, much simpler scan tools out there - like Scan Gauge. Just search for an OBDII scan tool that's Ford compliant.

Big time! There is a meter top-center on my computer - that's the ICP reading. You will note that the truck doesn't fire until the ICP bumps... that's oil reaching the High Pressure Oil Pump and the injectors. Low oil - no start. These injectors are triggered by the electrical signal, but they are oil-powered.

Bet this is it then. no oil, no injectors, no fuel.... no go. I got a lot to learn about this new toy of mine and really do appreciate the help and patience.
Well off to work so I can keep paying for this work. Will try these simple checks and fills tonight and see what happens. Will let you know.... I'll be damn happy if this fixes the problem.
